How often should I come in for a dental cleaning?
The frequency recommended is individualized. After the initial exam, our dental team will suggest a time frame best suited to benefit your specific needs. Regular dental cleanings and exams prevent gum disease and allow us to spot potential problems before they become bigger issues.
Is it normal for my gums to bleed when I brush or floss my teeth?
It is fairly common for gums to bleed a little when brushing or flossing, especially if not done frequently. However, with prolonged lack of proper hygiene practices, this can indicate the beginning stages of gum disease. If left unattended, this can lead to gum recession and possible tooth loss.
As a new patient, can I come in for a cleaning without an exam?
Yes, new patients can come in for a cleaning without an exam. However, it is strongly encouraged for the benefit of your oral health to receive an exam with your cleaning, as it allows us to take x-rays and diagnose cavities and other issues that cannot be seen with just a cleaning.
What can cosmetic dentistry do for me?
We want to help you achieve the aesthetically pleasing smile you have been wishing for. Cosmetic dentistry can include everything from whitening to completely reshaping your smile. If there is anything you wish to change about the appearance of your teeth, chances are cosmetic dentistry can help.
How much does cosmetic dentistry cost?
The cost of cosmetic dental treatment varies from procedure to procedure. While many cosmetic treatments, such as tooth whitening, are relatively inexpensive, more involved procedures such as porcelain restorations and porcelain veneers incur higher costs but tend to produce longer-lasting, highly attractive results.
How can I get a whiter smile?
At Byron Family Dental we offer in-office Zoom whitening as well as take-home whitening kits. If tooth whitening is not an option in your particular case, you may be a better candidate for obtaining a whiter smile via dental bonding, veneers, or crowns.
What can be done to replace missing teeth?
Whether you are missing one tooth or a number of teeth, our dentists can help you find the treatment that is right for you. A popular form of tooth replacement is dental implants, which involve the placement of a titanium post as well as a natural-looking fake tooth or crown. Another excellent option is a dental bridge, used to close or "bridge" the gap that is caused by missing teeth.
What are the minimum and maximum ages for dental implants?
During implant placement, the jaw should be fully matured. Implants are generally recommended for people of 18 years or older. There is no maximum age limit to receive implant treatment.
How long does an implant last?
After the initial healing phase, a properly placed and restored implant supported by healthy oral habits can last decades. However, it is important that you maintain regular dental cleanings and checkups to ensure long-term success of your implants.
Can implants be placed immediately after removing teeth?
Based on the condition of the tooth being extracted and considering bone quality and quantity, an implant may be placed immediately after tooth extraction. This is known as immediate implant placement, however, not everyone is a candidate for immediate implant placement.
Can my gap be closed with Invisalign?

How long does Invisalign treatment take?
